Welcome to Ledbury & District Amateur Swimming Club (or just LADASC). We are affiliated to the A.S.A. Midlands District and Worcester County A.S.A. We pride ourselves on being a small, friendly, successful competitive club with swimmers aged from 5 upwards. Our aim is to help every member swim to the best of their ability by developing technique and stamina.

We compete in local leagues against clubs from the West Midlands and South Wales (ages 9 - Open). League programmes run from January to July. We compete in Open Meets and also friendly fixtures encouraging 'B' Team swimmers.

We have six Club Championship Galas per year, which cater for every child in the Club. It is a membership requirement that you must swim in at least four of these galas. We have a wonderful array of trophies, which are presented along with gold, silver and bronze medals during the galas. We also keep Club Records, which are listed in the Handbook.

Personal Best Times (PB's) are a vital part of competitive swimming. We have computer records for each swimmer, which they are encouraged to take an interest in. The notice board always displays improved PB's in addition to relaying important information about forthcoming events and recent results.

The club operates a swim shop where you can buy club costumes, bags, polo shirts, and hats, as well as other equipment. Team swimmers are requested to wear club kit.

Parental support and offers of help are always welcome, especially with our Club Galas when we need a minimum of 21 officials and helpers! If you would like to offer help sign the notice on the board prior to the event or simply speak to any committee member. NO EXPERIENCE NECCESSARY!

The training sessions are carefully planned by our coach Viv Jones and are divided into ability groups:

Teaching Lanes
This group caters for new members, building up stamina whilst concentrating on stroke technique.

Development Group
More competent swimmers who are expected to attend at least twice per week. Attention to starts and turns, stroke work and racing skills.

Junior Squad
Swimmers old enough for team selection (year in which they are 9). Emphasis on stamina and speed training. Attendance 3 times a week.

Senior Squad
Top swimmers, attending all sessions and galas.

Club Shop:

The club shop is operated by Marie Park. Marie would prefer parents to place orders by phone, either at home (01531 660553) or on her mobile (07799 223041), or by email at mariepark@uwclub.net. She will bring stock in on occasional club nights to set up the shop, but is encouraging parents to send requests to her directly, so she can deliver orders to the pool for collection and payment.

Conditions of membership:

LADASC is a competitive swimming club and expects all members to make themselves available to swim for the club when selected. Membership of those swimmers who fail to meet these minimum requirements will be reviewed by the committee.
